You can get a Civic Pass when you are prompted to do so by a requesting dApp or DEX. Simply follow the prompts to successfully complete verification.
Start Verification option
You'll need to connect your wallet, agree to the Terms & Conditions and Biometric Policy, click Start Verification, verify ownership of your wallet, agree to the Self-Declaration and verify your email address. Thereafter, you'll be prompted to complete a video selfie and/or identity document verification using your mobile phone or desktop webcam.
Using your phone
If you choose to complete the video selfie and/or identity document verification on your phone, you will be presented with a QR code that you can scan with your device's rear camera or using a QR scanner app. Alternatively, you can copy a link and send it to your phone. Both options will bring you to a page where you will use your phone's front camera to complete the video selfie and your device's rear camera to submit a photo of your identity document.
Using your webcam
If you’re using a desktop, you can complete your video selfie using your webcam. Thereafter, you will be prompted to submit an ID document for verification. You can either continue on your phone and submit a photo of your ID or you can upload a photo of your ID (.jpeg or .png).
If you choose to upload your identity document using your phone, you will be presented with 3 options to complete your identity document verification:
Scanning a QR code: You can use your mobile phone camera or download a QR code scanner app to scan the QR code. You will then be directed to a webpage where you can upload a photo of your identity document. You will then finish the process on your desktop.
Getting an SMS link: You can have a link sent to your mobile number. You will need to select your country and enter your mobile number on your desktop when prompted to do so. Once the SMS link arrives, click on it to be directed to a webpage where you can upload a photo of your identity document. If you have issues with receiving your SMS link, you can resend the link or try any of the other verification methods in this article.
Copying a link: If you select the ‘Copy link’ option, you will be presented with a link on your screen. Copy that link and send it to yourself. You will need to access the link using your mobile phone. When you click on the link, you will be directed to a webpage where you can upload a photo of your identity document using your mobile phone. You will then finish the process on your desktop.
Complete with the Civic App option
Using the Civic App is best for getting a Civic Pass if:
- The methods indicated above don’t work for you
- You do not have a desktop (you can use your mobile phone web browser). You will need to make sure that you are using a wallet that is accessible on mobile and does not require a web extension
- You do not have a working webcam on your desktop
- You already have a verified identity document on your Civic App
Download the Civic App from the Google Play Store or App Store. Complete basic verification using your mobile number and email address. When you click “Complete with Civic App” a QR code will pop-up. Scan the QR code using your Civic app. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete verification using the app. Follow the instructions on screen to complete verification using the app.
Please keep in mind that your wallet provider page will open in a new tab or window. The tab/window must remain open otherwise it will disconnect your wallet from the Civic Pass and you will have to begin the process again.
