1. Why is Civic sunsetting Civic Pass?
From time to time, we review our products to ensure we’re meeting the evolving needs of our customers. After careful consideration, we’ve made the decision to sunset Civic Pass and shift our focus to a new suite of products currently in development. We’ve notified our partners and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
2. What is the timeline for the Civic Pass sunset?
Civic Pass is being sunset in two phases:
- CAPTCHA and Identity Verification (IDV) will be discontinued on July 1, 2025
- Uniqueness and Liveness will be discontinued on July 31, 2025
3. Do I need to take action?
Yes. If your systems currently rely on Civic Pass components, you will need to:
Remove the applicable components from your integrations before their respective sunset dates
Identify alternative solutions if necessary
Test your end-to-end user flow to ensure continuity
4. What happens if I don’t remove Civic Pass before the deadlines?
After the respective sunset dates, the Civic Pass APIs will stop responding and integrations may break. This could result in failed user verification, onboarding errors, or degraded service. Please plan to complete removal ahead of time.
5. Will I still be able to access Civic Pass after July?
No. After the discontinuation date, you will no longer be able to issue or refresh Civic Passes through the platform. However, any Civic Passes that were issued prior to that date will remain valid and accessible until they reach their individual expiration dates.
6. Is there a replacement product or upgrade path?
Not at this time. Civic is not offering a direct replacement for Civic Pass components. However, if you are interested in upcoming Civic identity and AI authorization solutions, please contact partners@civic.com.
7. Will my contract be impacted?
Yes. Any active agreements referencing Civic Pass functionality will be terminated effective as of discontinuation date listed above. Please refer to your contract for termination clauses and contact your account manager for details regarding any credits or refunds.
8. What will happen to Civic Pass-related data?
Data will be retained or deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy and platform data retention policies. Once Civic Pass is deprecated, no further data collection, storage, or processing will occur.
9. Who can I contact for help?
You can reach out to us at support@civic.com, or contact your account manager directly if you’re a contracted customer. We’re here to ensure a smooth and supported transition.
